HC Deb 23 November 1949 vol 470 c37W
68. Sir G. Fox

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that substantial quantities of casein derived from milk are still being imported into this country from New Zealand, Argentine and elsewhere for the commercial production of plastics; and whether he will now take steps to prevent the use by British industry of milk products for this purpose.

Mr. Bottomley:

I am not prepared to deny its raw material to this well-established industry with a substantial export trade. No milk products suitable for human consumption are used in the manufacture of plastics.
