§ Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why he cannot provide the figures for profits made in recent years by the distilling industry as he has done for the brewing industry.
§ Sir S. Cripps:As I announced in the House on 29th March, it is proposed to publish the Inland Revenue profits statistics next year in broad trade groups. The publication will cover about 40 main groups and I cannot give information relating to individual trades within these groups. Figures for the brewers' profits have been published regularly since 1922 but similar information for other individual trades has always been refused and I am not prepared to depart from this practice.
