§ 63. Mr. Alpassasked the Minister of Agriculture what is his forecast of the acreage of wheat for the coming year in the County of Gloucester; and what steps are being taken to see that the target set will be reached.
Mr. T. WilliamsCropping forecast forms recently completed by Gloucester farmers indicated that they were intending to sow only 44,000 acres of wheat for the 1950 harvest, compared with the county target of 65,000 acres. Intensive local propaganda is now being undertaken by the county agricultural executive committee with the full support of the National Farmers' Union, and I hope that as a result the county target will be reached.
