§ 26. Mr. Astorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy regarding the use of air-raid shelters; to what use they are now being put; and what proportion of them is unsuitable for any purpose in time of peace.
§ Mr. EdeThis is not a matter in which it is possible to lay down general conditions and I do not think I can usefully offer any advice beyond saying that there is no objection to the use of shelters in peace for any legitimate purpose which does not impair their usefulness for their original purpose. I regret that I have not sufficient information to enable me to answer the last two parts of the Question.
