§ Mr. Wilfred PalingSub-postmasters receive a scale-payment based on the amount of Post Office business done, subject to certain minimum payments, which covers the provision of accommodation and any indoor assistance required. It ranges from £85 a year, in the case of the smallest country offices, to over £1800 a year for urban offices. The scale was comprehensively revised in agreement with the National Federation of Sub-Postmasters at the beginning of 1948; and no further general revision is at present contemplated.
