Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the President of the Board of Trade what was the amount of sterling paid to Czechoslovakia under Article 5 (a) of the Anglo-Czechoslovakian Agreement dated 1st November, 1945, Command Paper No. 6695; how much has been received from Czechoslovakia and in what currencies under Article 5 (b) of the same agreement.
§ Mr. BottomleyThe answer to the first part of the Question is approximately £9,200,000. As regards the second part of the Question, Article 5 (b) of the Anglo-Czechoslovak Money and Property Agreement of 1st November, 1945, does not provide for the payment of pre-war debts from Czechoslovakia to the United Kingdom creditors through inter-governmental channels, and I am unable to state the amounts which have been paid or the currencies in which they have been paid.
