§ 21. Mr. A. Edward Daviesasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is now in a position to announce what new arrangements have been put in hand for dealing with applications for compassionate leave from naval personnel.
Mr. DugdaleYes. The rules governing the grant of compassionate leave have now been re-worded to make it clear that such leave may be granted at the discretion of commanders-in-chief on occasions of the imminent death of a parent or in cases of more than usual distress, irrespective of whether there are any other children already at home.
