HC Deb 18 May 1949 vol 465 c19W
9. Commander Noble

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the difficulties experienced in Jamaica in booking passages to this country by sea or air; and what steps he is taking in this matter.

Mr. Creech Jones

Yes. Further ships will be brought into service very shortly. Meanwhile arrangements have been made for a steamship homeward-bound from Australia to call at Jamaica about the middle of June.

With regard to air passages, the withdrawal of the Tudor aircraft from passenger service has created a temporary shortage of capacity, but temporary arrangements are being made with B.O.A.C. and other companies.
