asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what is the percentage of their earnings from civilian engagements which Naval and Royal Marine bands are required to hand over to the Admiralty or the Treasury.

Mr. Dugdale

In general, none: but when the band is permitted to undertake a private engagement in the course of a duty tour public funds are credited with one-quarter of the net fees after deduction of expenses.
