§ Mr. Glenvil HallMethods of selecting temporary clerks to fill 34,000 established clerical posts under the scheme recently announced are still under consideration. Up to 15,000 posts are to be filled during 1949 mainly by departmental methods of selection which will be fixed in consultation with Staff Sides of Departmental Whitley Councils; written examinations are not precluded. To fill the remainder of the posts, selection will be carried out centrally by the Civil Service Commission in 1950 by methods to be fixed in consultation with the Staff Side of the National Whitley Council.
