§ 64. Mr. Hurdasked the Postmaster-General if he has considered the views of the local residents and the Bradfield Rural District Council objecting to the 95W closing of the post office at Padworth Common, Berkshire, which will cause hardship to old age pensioners and others who will have to walk two miles to the nearest post office; and if he has now made arrangements to continue adequate postal facilities to the local residents.
§ Mr. Wilfred PalingYes. I much regret that this sub-post office has had to be closed owing to the resignation of the sub-postmaster. Every effort is being made to obtain a new sub-postmaster. Meanwhile, to assist old age pensioners in particular, arrangements have been made for a postal clerk from Reading to attend at Padworth Common each Friday from 9.45 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. to pay pensions and transact other post office business.
