§ Mr. AlexanderThe War Office and the Air Ministry each have one recruiting office in Nottingham; the Admiralty share the Ministry of Labour Combined Recruiting Centre which deals with National Service men for all three Services. The number of staff employed by the Service Departments is 16. One thousand two hundred and ninety-nine recruits were obtained in 1948. Our general aim in this matter is to provide joint recruiting offices for all three Services and the Ministry of Labour, but we can do so only gradually owing to the difficulty of finding suitable premises.
