asked the Minister of Food what chance there is of small quantities of beef being imported from France.

Mr. Strachey

The French authorities have informed us that there is no prospect of obtaining beef from France for some time, but we do hope to get a little pigmeat. We have reached agreement with the French authorities on the necessary safeguards against foot-and-mouth disease and other animal diseases.
