§ Mr. G. R. StraussTwenty-one Viking aircraft, formerly operated by British European Airways Corporation, have been sold by my Department at the request of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Invitations to tender were widely issued, but there was little demand for these obsolescent aircraft. The cost of reconditioning to meet Air Registration Board regulations considerably reduced their 11W sales value and the best prices which could be obtained were low in comparison with the original purchase price. It is contrary to normal practice to publish details of individual contracts.
