§ 70. Mr. Osborneasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that eight wards containing 200 beds in the Isolation and Chest Hospital, Groby Road, Leicester, are empty owing to the lack of nurses and that over 150 patients are awaiting admission; when did he last take action to help this modern hospital to get nurses; what was the nature of that 210W action and what were its results; and what fresh action does he now propose to take.
§ Mr. BevanI understand that the number of unstaffed beds now is 136, and the number of patients awaiting admission 139. Continuous efforts to obtain staff are being made by the hospital management committee with the help of my Department and of the Ministry of Labour, and these efforts will continue.
