§ Mr. Pickthornasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many violent deaths there have been in Malaya in each of the last 12 months; and how many of the victims have been Malayan, how many European, how many soldiers or policemen and how many civilians.
Mr. Creech JonesThe following are the approximate numbers of persons killed as a result of bandit activity in Malaya during each of the past twelve months:

Of the 480 bandits, 465 were Chinese, seven Malays and eight others. In addition up to the end of January there were 35 executions for offences under Emergency Regulations (32 Chinese and three Malays).
