HC Deb 04 March 1949 vol 462 c78W
Mr. Granville

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that an experimental scheme for the delivery of packet meals to farm workers is to be introduced in a group of parishes in Suffolk and that this scheme is backed by farmers and farm workers and arranged by a firm of caterers; and if he is prepared to support this experiment by granting a special bulk supply of food for this purpose.

Mr. Strachey

Yes; the scheme was, in fact, suggested by my local officials. I am anxious to encourage the provision of good packed meals to farm workers and I will make supplies of rationed foods, on the industrial "A" scale, available to any caterer for this purpose.
