HC Deb 02 March 1949 vol 462 c51W
Mr. Vane

asked the President of the Board of Trade why no help is being given to traders or others in this country who wish to visit the Leipzig Fair.

Mr. H. Wilson

Traffic from the Western zones to the Soviet zone of Germany has been interrupted as a result of the Soviet blockade of Berlin. Sponsorship by my Department of applications from persons in the United Kingdom to visit the Leipzig Fair would therefore serve no useful purpose in the absence of facilities for such visits.
