§ 34. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the dissatisfaction in the various grades of the public service in Scotland, including the chief constables, with certain provisions of the Oaksey Report; and if he proposes to take any steps to meet tbe objections.
§ Mr. WoodburnI am aware that criticisms of various details in the recommendations of the Oaksey Report have been made by Scottish police organisations and that other criticisms have been made by other parties. As indicated in the Statement on Pay and Conditions of Service of Police (Cmd. 7707), however, His Majesty's Government have accepted the recommendations of the Committee as a whole and are taking steps to implement them.
