§ 77. Brigadier Raynerasked the Minister of Food why self-employed persons are not permitted a special soap allowance when the nature of their work corresponds with that for which allowances are permitted for those employed by others.
§ Dr. SummerskillSpecial soap allowances are provided through their employers for workers in a number of occupations on grounds of health or the dirty nature of the work. This also applies to self-employed workers. Allowances are also made to employers who provide washing facilities for their employees at the place of their work. These allowances do not apply to self-employed workers, who are able to wash at home.
