New School Places

Mr. Piratin

asked the Minister of Education the number of new places provided, respectively, in nursery, primary and secondary schools during 1946, 1947 and 1948.

Mr. Tomlinson

It is estimated that the following number of new school places were provided:

				Primary	Secondary
1946	…	…	…	10,000	10,000
1947	…	…	…	20,000	60,000
1948	…	…	…	60,000	120,000

The figures for primary schools includes 40 places in 1947 and 160 places in 1948 provided in nursery schools.
