Mr. Baker Whiteasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that pensions to school teachers are paid 30W quarterly whereas other pensions are paid weekly or monthly; and whether, for the convenience of pensioners, he will make arrangements for the future monthly payment of school teachers' pensions.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Arrangements for the payment of pensions at shorter intervals would involve legislation to amend the Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1925. I am not aware that any considerable number of teachers desire monthly payments.
