HC Deb 27 July 1949 vol 467 c150W
Mr. T. Lewis

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if, as the owners of the property have made no objection to the order made by the Southampton Town Council on 17th March, 1948, for the compulsory purchase of Red Lodge, Southampton, urgently required by the council, and as to enable the War Department to find an alternative site for their Command 'Supply Depot, at present established in part of the grounds of Red Lodge, the council have agreed, if the order is confirmed, to lease that part of the grounds to the War Department for a term of 10 years, he will now confirm the compulsory purchase order without modification.

Mr. Silkin

I am in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War, who is considering the offer made by the Southampton Town Council.
