§ Mr. Linsteadasked the Minister of Education how many local education authorities have prepared a scheme under the Education Act, 1944, by which grants towards tuition fees of boys at independent schools can be obtained; whether he will name these authorities; and whether there is any central body at whose office information as to such schemes can be obtained.

§ Mr. TomlinsonEighty-six local education authorities have submitted for my approval their general arrangements for assisting children to attend independent schools and at least 36 more authorities are known to be ready to assist individual children in this way. So far as I know information about authorities' schemes generally is not available from any central source except the Ministry.
