HC Deb 12 July 1949 vol 467 cc19-20W
77. Mrs. Mann

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that the wives of Royal Marine Commandos, stationed at Suez, have been ordered back to England, although their homes have been given up and some of them have been only three weeks in Suez; and, pending these wives joining their husbands in Hong Kong, if he will accede to their request to be accommodated at a transit camp whilst awaiting embarkation.

Mr. J. Dugdale

Families of Royal Marine Commandos stationed at Suez are not being ordered to the United Kingdom. They are being given the option of transferring to Malta or of returning to the United Kingdom provided they arrange their own private accommodation here.
