asked the Minister of Food what numbers of cattle, sheep 2W and pigs have been killed in this country for home consumption during the first six months of 1949; and how these figures compare with the same period last year.

The numbers of livestock bought for slaughter in Great Britain in the first six months of 1948 and 1949 respectively were as follow:
