§ Mr. KeyThe average number of building workers per 1,000 people in England and Wales is about 20; of these about 52 per cent. are employed on housing work of all types. About 22 per cent. are employed on new housing. In addition there is an average of about three self-employed building workers, but it is not known what percentage of them is engaged on housing work.
