§ Mr. BottomleyThe total value of imports of lenses for spectacles, goggles, eyeglasses or monocles into the United Kingdom in the six months ended May, 1949, was £7,000. Since then, imports have been made, and are expected to continue, on a much larger scale.146W Applications for import licences are referred for advice to the Ministry of Health, and licences are normally issued on their recommendation. No special conditions are attached to the licences.
