§ 98. Sir T. Mooreasked the Minister of Health what is the latest estimate for the current annual cost of the National Health Service, as divided amongst the main branches, together with the administration costs; and if he will also give figures indicating the estimated income from contributors.
§ Mr. BevanA supplementary estimate of the cost of the National Health Service for the period 5th July, 1948, to 31st March. 1949, divided amongst the main branches will shortly be laid before the House. The amount available from National Insurance Contributions towards the cost of this Service is estimated to be £24 million for the period in question.
