§ 107. Mr. Prittasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that three women telephonists in Government employment in Mauritius who married during their service at a time when no marriage bar was in force or contemplated were, some years later, in April, 1947, dismissed, with thanks for their loyal services, because they had married, were reinstated in June, 1948, with full pay because there was no ground for their previous dismissal, and were at the same moment dismissed once again without reason given, with effect from 31st July, 1948; and whether he can ensure that the Government of Mauritius treats its employees with fairness and does not retrospectively enforce a marriage bar.
