Smithersasked the Minister of Food if he will state, in convenient categories, the number and salaries of Europeans and of African artisans and labourers employed in the African Groundnut Scheme at the latest available date on a yearly basis; and whether he will give an assurance that the salaries paid to African artisans are not less than those paid to Africans in other comparable employment.

As to the second part of the Question, it is the policy of the Corporation to pay to its African employees wages in line with those paid to Africans in other comparable employment.
