§ Mr. BarnesThere are 51 toll bridges in Great Britain. Those at Swinford and Whitchurch cross the Thames, and the initiative for freeing them from tolls rests with the Berkshire and Oxfordshire County Councils, who are jointly interested. These Councils are well aware of my desire that the tolls should be abolished as soon as possible. My Department wrote to the Berkshire County
