§ Dr. SummerskillAbout 42,000 tons of rice was imported into the United Kingdom during the first 11 months of 1948. This included rice imported for victualling ships loading at British ports, and also a large proportion in the form of rough rice which had to be milled in the United Kingdom. The milled rice is now being distributed under the points rationing scheme. The countries of consignment and quantities (in tons) were:
