§ 69. Major Tufton Beamishasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department for what reasons he has decided that it is in the interests of this country to allow M. Antal Ban, a member of the Hungarian Socialist Party, now in exile from Hungary, to pay a visit of indefinite duration to the United Kingdom, in view of the fact that other refugees from Hungary who have been waiting longer than Mr. Ban for similar permission have been refused.
§ Mr. EdeAs I have already explained to the hon. and gallant Member, M. Antal Ban is a leading Hungarian Social Democrat in exile from Hungary and I came to the conclusion that it would be in the interests of this country to allow him to pay a visit of indefinite duration. If the hon. and gallant Member will send me particulars of the other refugees from Hungary whom he has in mind I will consider them.
