is a shortage of labour in firms engaged in the manufacture of heavy electrical plant; and what steps he is taking to deal with the situation.
§ Mr. IsaacsI am aware of the shortage. It is due partly to the scarcity of certain grades of skilled labour and partly to the lack of accommodation in districts where the labour is needed. The industry is receiving first preference and in the 11 months ended 24th November 6,562 preference vacancies in the heavy electrical plant firms were filled and 646 remained outstanding.
