§ Mr. Morleyasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that the War Damage Commissioners have authorised payment to a Southampton building contractor, whose name has been submitted to him, for the full sum of his original estimate, although prior to such payment being made, there was evidence submitted in writing by a responsible householder of Southampton, whose name has been submitted to him, that the contractor had not performed the work or used the materials to which he had contracted; and, in view of this fact, if he will consider an official inquiry into the matter.
