§ Mr. Wilfred PalingSamples regularly taken by the Post Office show that the quality of service given to existing subscribers in Sheffield is as good as in other large cities. As regards new subscribers, I regret that in some parts of Sheffield, as elsewhere, it is not possible to meet all public demands owing to shortage of plant resulting from the heavy demands for export and to pressure of essential work. I consider that no useful purpose would be served by holding a special investigation.
