asked the President of the Board of Trade what countries produce sodium chlorate; and what purchases have been made during the past year from each of them.

The principal producing countries are: France, Italy, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Canada and the U.S.A. In 1948, imports amounted to 12.473 cwt., distributed as follow: Italy, 4,419 cwt.; Norway, 2,894 cwt.; Poland, 2,773 cwt.; France, 2,387 cwt.
