Smithersasked the Minister of Health how many foreign visitors have received medical attention under the National Health Service in Britain during the past six months; and how he proposes to compensate the State doctors for the services they have rendered to those foreigners who contribute nothing to the National Health Service.
§ Mr. BevanSeparate figures are not available but the population statistics on which the remuneration of general practitioners is calculated include foreign visitors who have been in the country for 28 days. A doctor attending a foreign visitor receives the usual fee for a temporary resident.
