Mr. Creech JonesThe Land Control Board was constituted by an Ordinance of 1944 and consists of the Commissioner of Lands, the Financial Secretary, the Director of Agriculture and six other persons appointed by a majority vote of the European elected members of the Legislative Council. The Board's powers extend only to European land transactions in the Settled Area for which its consent, subject to the approval of the Governor is required. The Board is empowered to impose conditions when giving its consent, and to subpoena witnesses.
