HC Deb 14 February 1949 vol 461 c122W
97. Mr. Erroll

asked the Minister of Supply at what price the British Stores Disposal Mission in Egypt have been disposing of Army jeeps in good condition, in view of the fact that they have been available for purchase privately at £85 each; and what steps were taken to ensure that these jeeps were not required by British Forces stationed in the Middle East.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

No jeep in good condition has been disposed of by the British Supply Disposal Mission in Egypt. All surpluses were either well worn or short of components, and were beyond economical repair to Army standards.
