HC Deb 09 February 1949 vol 461 cc55-6W
63. Mr. Skinnard

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken to encourage rice-growing in Trinidad, especially in the Caroni area, where this crop was grown as a war-time expedient.

Mr. Rees-Williams

A committee is being appointed by the Governor to study the possibilities of large-scale rice planting in Trinidad. I will inform my hon. Friend of the terms of reference of the committee as soon as possible.
