§ Mr. Willisasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether, in view of recent decisions making E.R.A.'s and mechanicians interchangeable in so far as duties in His Majesty's ships are concerned, it is proposed to continue the arrangement whereby a fixed proportion of the promotion vacancies for warrant rank are reserved for mechanicians irrespective of marks obtained at the annual examination for the ranks of warrant engineer and warrant mechanician.
