§ Mr. Glenvil HallThe circumstances in which people ask for permission to remit are so varied that each application must be considered on its merits. As to remittances for political purposes however, my right hon. Friend said on 30th November last that, if there is no exchange difficulty, he would, broadly speaking, approve contributions made for the purpose of strengthening the democratic forces in any country and would disapprove contributions made to organisations whose activities are hostile to that purpose.
