§ 94. Mr. Joynson-Hicksasked the Secretary of State for All whether he is aware that nothing appears to have been done during the past two years to reopen the road communications at Tang-mere and Oving; and if he will now take immediate steps to restore these essential services to the local community.
§ Mr. A. HendersonMy right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport has had further discussions with the highway authority about the alternative roads to replace those which must remain permanently closed and I am at present considering the proposals which have resulted from their discussions. The work involved in the provision of alternative roads is considerable and, in view14W of the present shortage of labour and materials, it is not possible to say when it can be carried out. Meanwhile use of part of one of the roads affected is being permitted.
