HC Deb 02 February 1949 vol 460 c230W
43. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Postmaster-General if he aware that the closing of the sub-post office at Swannington, Norfolk, is going to cause great inconvenience to all the residents, and especially to old age pensioners; and if he will make special efforts to ensure that a sub-post office is re-opened in this village at the earliest possible date.

Mr. Hobson

Every effort has been and will continue to be made to re-open a sub-post office at Swannington; I much regret that, unfortunately, it has so far not been possible to find a candidate for the vacant post of sub-postmaster. To assist old age pensioners in particular, a postal clerk from Norwich now attends at Swannington each Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to pay pensions and transact other post office business.
