asked the Minister of Food how many breeding sows were slaughtered in November and December, 1948; and how many in the same months in 1947.

Mr. Strachey

In November and December, 1948, 8,459 sows were slaughtered at bacon factories and Government slaughterhouses, compared with 1,303 in 1947. We do not know how many of these were suitable for breeding.
