§ Mr. Lennox-Boydasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many committees appointed by the United Nations 341W have toured the various British Trusteeship Territories; to what countries did their members belong; and how much time on each visit did they spend in the territory they were reporting on.
Mr. Creech JonesA visiting mission appointed by the Trusteeship Council visited Tanganyika from 12th August to 21st September, 1948. Its members were: M. H. Laurentie, France (Chairman); Mr. E. W. P. Chinnery, Australia; Dr. Lin Mousheng, China; Mr. R. E. Woodbridge, Costa Rica. In addition there was a secretariat party of six members, drawn from the Trusteeship Division of the United Nations Secretariat.
A second visiting mission of the Trusteeship Council is at present visiting the Trust Territories in West Africa administered by France and the United Kingdom. It arrived in Lagos on 31st October and spent the period from 1st to 11th November in the Cameroons under United Kingdom Trusteeship. It subsequently spent two or three further days in Lagos. It was due to arrive in Togo-land under United Kingdom Trusteeship on 10th December and will leave Accra for Geneva on 21st December. Its members are: Mr. A. Khalidy, Iraq (Chairman); Mr. B. Gerig, U.S.A.; M. A. Clayes-Bouuaert, Belgium; Sr. R. Pedrueza, Mexico. It also comprises a secretariat party of six members of the United Nations Secretariat.
