§ 150. Mr. Henderson Stewartasked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he is aware that from Croome Court in Worcestershire the Adam ceilings were recently removed and shipped to the United States of America, despite the fact that this important building was listed as of special architectural interest under Section 30 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947; and what action he proposes to take to prevent further listed buildings from being demolished.
§ Mr. KingThe building referred to by my hon. Friend has not yet been listed334W under Section 30 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, and notice therefore of the intention to remove the ceiling was not required. As regards the last part of the Question the listing of a building places on record its special interest and requires notice of alteration or demolition. The making of a building preservation order is a separate process and is in the first instance for the local authority.
