Lieut.-Commander Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the necessity for providing safe and convenient means of transit for pedestrians, especially school children, between the districts of Carrick Knowe and Stenhouse in Edinburgh, he will now authorise Edinburgh Corporation to proceed with the erection of a footbridge 325W across the main railway lines separating these two districts.
§ Mr. WoodburnOwing to restrictions on capital expenditure it has not yet been possible to authorise the erection of the proposed footbridge, but the matter is receiving further consideration and I will communicate with the hon. and gallant Member about it.
